B. Goal Setting

Living is this world has full of surprises as you go long spending your life. For us, living is a once in a lifetime experience for which you have the opportunity to do it on your own.

In short, you are choosing your destination without other people commanding at you. You have the power to choose where to go and how to get there. By setting your goal, this helps you achieved your target.

  • In terms of goal setting, starting off is the most important. You can take a sheet of small paper, take a deep breath, relax and sit quietly, then evaluate yourself about the things that you want to achieved as you go along with your life.
  • The next move is to get another paper, but this time you need consider personal goals in the next twelve months. You need to include key areas in your life like, career, financial, growth, spiritual, recreation, personal, financial and family. Write them down and the possible things that you can do for you to accomplish the goal in a year period.
  • Your third step is to go back then compare two goals that you have listed. Make it sure that the items the short term goal will be contribute to your long term or life time goals as you accomplish them.
  • As you move on your next step, look at your goals listed this time, and if you found that there are any items in the list that you are not that willing to do, you can cross it out, leaving items that you are much willing to accomplish. This does not mean that you need money or other resources for you to attain the goals you have listed. However, when you have it in the future, you can trade it for the goals that you have on your official list.
  • Again, on another paper, create your job goals that you think important to you in the next twelve month period. Determine possible outcomes that you want for this year period in your area of authority and responsibility.
  • Key areas to consider in writing your job goals includes cost control, cost improvement, quality, procedure, quantity, financial, personnel, sales, and training. Look for job blending between personal and work goals. Device the idea of attaining your job goal while attaining personal goal. You need to note that concept, because in that way it makes you more motivated with your plans.
  • Take note, on the three newly list created, get another sheet of paper and list possible activities that you can do for you to attain each of the goal in your created list. Now again, on another paper with “Things to Do” with the identified activities you created, it includes activities that will be done on the next day and as you move forward in achieving goal.
  • Rewrite goals with categories, you can do it at-least quarterly, remember nothing is constant in this world except for change (this is true to all no need to argue). • You can modify your “Things to do” after evaluating your goals. Accomplishment is defined as “realization of goal”. This means that you have achieved every item of your goal as you move toward accomplishing it, in that way you are then “successful” though it is not yet. Remember that achieving your goal has step by step procedure. It is not by achieving those goals, it is what happens to you as the progress goes along the way.
  • One more thing, you need to set family goals, so your children learn this process as early as possible. Decide on the things to be accomplished and stick to it. Never attempt to do everything for others.
  • Your wish and dream is not considered goals until such time that they are written on your paper. With specific goals that are written, it enables you to have direction so you can connect and focus all your activities into it or it will be roadmap.
  • Result matters, it is not evaluated on how busy you are. Like a baseball game, points are only given when you made home, meaning by just getting in the bases is useless.
  • Make sure that all activities are pointing your goals. Remember that individual commitment is vital in achieving target.
  • Excitement boost your motivation, when you have goal that connects with you interest, this will make you exciting to achieve since it is meaningful to you.
