In running a business, there comes a time that doing networking goes hand in hand.
But the difficult part that most marketers will experience is the difficulties in facing strangers introducing their business.
We have been asked by our colleague to share some of the helpful tips on networking during one of our business meeting. So we decided to create another the same idea of what helpful tips on networking we shared during the meeting.
1. Arrive early and never be late
This first tip is sensitive. Making yourself early during a networking event is a good technique. Coming early gives a person the opportunity, especially when the environment is still calm and quit and people are not yet settled in groups. This is the perfect opportunity to scout for potential partners for your business.
2. Raise easy questions
You make the first move. Don’t wait for them to come at you. To get everything started, walk directly to your potential partner and make your first move by saying “hello” or “May I join you” or even “what brings you here to this amazing event?” be sure to listen to their first response.
The idea is “becoming a good listener” this behavior is the best weapon for you to be acquainted with a person.
3. Ditch your sales pitch
Always remember that
Networking is about building relationship.
Keep everything light, fun and informal. Starting your hard selling just minutes after you meet a person is a no-no. The idea here is to get your conversation started. They are people like you, and they like to do business or even partner with to those people whom they are comfortable with.
If your potential network partner asks about your service or product, present an easy description of your networking company. The best thing to do it is by creating list of recent accomplishment like the recent client you have and the completed projects. Doing this, can easily get and item and talk it in the conversation.
4. Sharing your enthusiasm
Showing and sharing your enthusiasm to the business wins over people. So why not leave lasting impression by sharing your inspiring experience with the company, talking things that you enjoy.
So when you get people to share their infatuation, this will create a two-way healthy conversation.
5. be friendly and Smile
This one is simple, but most people overlooked this critical rule of business engagement. When you smile, you are lowering down your nervous and you will create inviting environment with others. Smile when you first enter a room or when you start your conversation.
6. Never hijack a conversation
People who dislike networking business may overcompensate and somewhat do commandeering in discussion. Take note
Successful networkers make other people feel special.
Look in the eye, mention their name, listen to them and suggest good topics that are easy to talk about. Make yourself a “conversationalist” not just a talker.
7. Follow up things
Remember to do follow ups, networking is where conversation begins. So if you have a great exchange, ask them possible ways to get in touch. Some may give their email address, phone number or even social media networks.
So get in touch as fast as possible when the water is still hot.
